What is this 2D vision kit used for?

The 2D vision kit is suitable for detecting objects with clear contours on a contrasting background. The cobot can make position corrections when products are not always exactly in the same location by using input from the camera.

Can this 2D camera recognize barcodes, QR codes, and text?

Yes, with the right software extension, the camera can recognize barcodes, QR codes, and text for product identification.

How does the camera communicate with the cobot?

Communication takes place via socket communication or digital I/O. Coordinates or detection signals can be sent directly to the cobot.

How is the camera configured?

Configuration is done via the IFM Wizard software from IFM electronic, where all parameters and detection functions can be set.

Can the camera be mounted on the robotic arm?

Yes, assembly can be done both on the robot arm and statically above the work area.

What is the difference between a 2D and 3D vision system?

A 2D system does not measure height or depth but usually offers higher resolution for flat detection.
